I believe that technology is one of the most important aspects of education because it something that is used in our everyday lives. There is technology all around us, and being able to use the technology is a skill to be successful in life. By incorporating technology into your lessons, it allows you to enhance the learning experience for students. It provides another opportunity to engage the students into the lesson and providing that engagement is what helps students learn.
There is so much technology out there that can help to provide a meaningful learning experience to students, so why not take advantage of it? Mostly every school has at least one computer lab or computers in the classroom which makes the availability of technology easy. There are so many interactive websites on the internet that can allow students to read information and apply it to their lives. There are also games to help reinforce what they have learned. This is something that is very useful for elementary school because it provides a fun way to reinforce what they have learned. There are also many websites that have interactive books where they actually animate the book and it reads it to the children. This allows the students to click on the words they don’t know, reread pages and provide the students with entertainment that children don’t receive from reading just regular books. These are just a few examples of some of the great technology that is available to teachers and students. Teaching students only through lecture and books will only get you so far. Students learn best through a multi sensory approach and using technology will provide them with the experience needed to gain knowledge.
My beliefs about technology are essentially the same as they were at the beginning of the semester. The only difference now is that I am more aware of the technology that is made available to students and teachers.
